This is an updated rendition of the 4 books in the EDI Education Series. The previous 4 books, which this is based upon, hold very different aspects of the EDI world. As such, they offer an excellent refresher on their specific topic. This book is more of a guide for the new backpacker, it is not a recipe collection because we all eat different, like different things, and our budgets span a rather large range. Personal cooking, is, well, personal. There are things you can eat every day that others may not want once. But personal cooking in the woods, on a trail for a week, needs to be nutritious, tasty, unique, and easy. It also needs to have minimal cleanup. The series ended prematurely, I had a problem with that so I fixed it by writing the next episode that spans many years in the life of the colony. Marriage, birth, death, friends become enemies and enemies become friends.
Getting published can be a new world for some, here are a few tips and tricks I have learned over the years. The world of publishing is a very difficult one to break into if you are looking for a publisher in the traditional sense; but if you plan to "self-publish" there is an array of things you need to know in advance, or better yet, my experiences may just avoid the processes costing you money to learn a hard lesson. -----> I paid my dues, and you get the benefit!

A thru-hike is a very long-distance hike. For example, the Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine to the tune of about 2,100 miles. Starting at one end and walking to the other is called a Thru-Hike. So, doesn’t it make sense to use hikers to perform a planetary survey on a new planet? The hikers can survey, inspect, learn, and report what they find — contracted for one planetary year. They experience something new, something extraordinary. The result is an insight into this new world and the ability to quickly create a viable colony while allowing the planet to flourish. While hiking, some of the contracted hikers develop new skills, and these advanced or enhanced, humans become a part of this new world, and the world has become a part of them. They have a connection to the planet, the creatures. It is not this group who needs to be watched, but it is their children, for they are the future of humanity.
