A thru-hike is a very long-distance hike. For example, the Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine to the tune of about 2,100 miles. One of them is Amelia Earhart. We all know Voyager made it home with the assistance of a time traveling Admiral Janeway, but the development of the Quantum Slipstream drive took a few more decades.
